[ Biography ]

Lenore Drale’s family was comfortably middle class on Nimon. Her father was a well-known jewelry merchant, and her mother lived comfortably on his income. Lenore’s education was seen to, and she had a marked interest in (and ability with) computers and programming. She assisted her father in the software aspects of his merchant ship from the time she was twelve. It took some pleading, but she managed to convince her parents to let her apply to the Minom Space Academy when she was seventeen.

She intended to study to be a computer specialist on a war galleon or something equally prestigious. She wasn’t entirely patriotic about her country… She just figured that serving aboard a military vessel would be the fastest way to gain recognition for her talents. However, it wasn’t to be. She failed the entrance exam twice, showing an almost nonexistent knowledge of star maps, a lack of physical ability required by the military training academy, and a tendency to ignore test orders.

Her second failure humiliated her enough that she refused to go home. She begged passage from a privateer from Aosas passing through, and he took her along for the ride. She departed on Hajik, but the planet wasn’t to her liking. When a merchant there left, she went with him. So, for a year, she hopped about the galaxy, going wherever a ship she could get passage on was going. Finally, she ended up on Wyar.

She managed to survive the rough and tumble world, finding her place in the casinos and bike races. With a bit of work, she cracked through the firewalls on some of the more sophisticated machinery and managed to rig the odds in certain games on the casinos. The races were easier, as most people in them weren’t natives. It was easy enough to hack into the systems of the bikes and stall them or make them veer off course. Until she was caught.

Luckily for her, she was found out by a racer who was satisfied to take a cut of Lenore’s winnings from the rigged race… and who suggested she come to a local bar. The girl was a spacer, a mechanic on a pirate hunting ship, and her captain (either brave enough to dare to stop on Wyar or stupid enough not to know better) might, she said, be interested in someone that good with computers.

Thus, Lenore joined the crew of The Confidante.
